CMA CGM Vietnam

On August 20, 2022 CMA CGM team in Vietnam launched their mangrove reforestation effort inTra Vinh province. Part of the SeedForSea programme, one hectare of Rhizphora Apiculata mangrove trees was planted along with the current stripes of Sonneratia Caseolaris mangrove trees at Bần islet. These mangrove seedlings help to increase the diversity and enhance protection against natural disasters like storms, land erosion, and rising sea level. This is a 4 – year project supported by CMA CGM and implemented by MangLub VN as the authorized party. Staff from CMA CGM Vietnam took part in the planting of the seedlings along the coast of Nhi hamlet, My Long Nam commune, which was badly affected by land erosion. Education and awareness being a big part of the programme, the team enjoyed learning about how these rich ecosystems support the planet and people through a heartfelt story telling session performed by Trân, a female student completing grade 1. To ensure the education continues, MangLub VN will soon launch an online course to share more about the Rhizophoracaea plant species.

On this event date, about 30 team members of Forto VN planted 200 Rhizophora Apiculata mangrove trees together with local people & students at the current area of Sonneratia Caseolaris. Also, the educational activity was also combined to raise the awareness on the mangrove trees.
